You are perfect and indispensable

Do you know you are perfect?  Not perfect as Jesus Christ is perfect, but perfectly suited, Tailor-made in fact, to fulfill a special and unique role that God has for you in this place.  Our community is like a human body, made up of different parts.  Together we are a body and members individually.  You have a special and unique role to play.  If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?  But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He pleased.

Do you know you are indispensable?  Not because the world would fall apart if you were no longer around but because it wouldn’t be the same without you.  The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”  No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.  And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it, whether they realise it at the time or not.  We are joined and knit together by what every joint supplies.

(From 1st Corinthians ch.12 and Ephesians ch.4)
