I used to be indecisive

I used to be indecisive, but now I’m not so sure.  Do you ever feel torn or tossed between two conflicting beliefs or choices of action?  Where each side has a convincing argument but they can’t possibly both be right?  Where your conviction changes hour-by-hour according to which side of the argument you last heard?  That’s a painful place to be.  It demobilises and paralyses you.  Your mind feels ready to explode.

“we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting”  (Ephesians 4)

That’s where a well-developed set of values can be helpful.  Test each option.  Which one conforms most closely with your values?  Stand by that, because if you stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything.

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth”  (Ephesians 6)
